Inflammation is a necessary and beneficial process in our bodies to help us fight infection as we recover from injury, fight off foreign invaders and allergens, and to help us heal. However, inflammation can also be a culprit to many diseases and dysfunctions in our bodies. A body that is in a state of chronic inflammation will have a hard time being healthy as well as a hard time staying out of stiffness and pain. There are a few natural things you can do to reduce inflammation in your body.
First, identify and avoid postures or movement patterns that produce pain and inflammation. Second, identify and eliminate foods that increase inflammatory. This will vary for each person. However, consider keeping a food journal and tracking your body’s response to corn (especially corn syrup), eggs, dairy, soy, sugar, wheat, yeast/mold (such as beer and blue cheese). Food allergies and intolerances adversely effect your digestive and immune systems. Consider consulting an allergist to help you. Be sure to steer clear of foods that facilitate inflammation for you. Processed food, trans fats, and refined sugars promote inflammation.
Third, eat foods that fight inflammation! We have some powerful foods that give us great traction when it comes to fighting inflammation. Omega 3 fatty acid is an anti-inflammatory. Some food choices with Omega 3 FA include: flaxseeds, walnuts, and wild salmon. Black Raspberries and Cherry Juice Concentrate are also excellent anti-inflammatories; better than Vitamin C and as good as over the counter anti-inflammatory medication without havoc to the stomach. Be informed, cherry juice is a natural blood thinner.
